ACADEMIC PROJECTS - SELF DESTRUCTION TOOLS IN THE MAKING!
The truth: Academic projects are destroying us!!! Honestly, there seems to be absolutely no point whatsoever in shelling out 'hard earned' pocket money, time and our much valued freedom working on a seemingly useless academic project, while we could simply chill out on a PC checking out memes and relationship statuses on FB! No kidding, we find video games more “skill enhancing” than a day spent in tackling seams of paperwork over a project we hardly understand. Seems like whoever designed the syllabus had a grudge against us 'would be' graduates.
On
further reflection though, the actual and disturbing truth hits us. That we are
targets of our own ignorance. Dude! We fail to understand that academic
projects are a culmination of our entire educational journey – a testing ground
for what we have learned all these years while our parents relentlessly gave
out wads of cash for our pizzas and what not! Not to mention the lakhs they
spent on our education!
Here's
an inside-the-industry fact: Employers largely focus on academic projects while
recruiting students. Already knew? LOL
Then
why do we 'buy' projects or do dummy projects? Why are we making them tools of
self destruction? Why do we lack the motivation to work on something
extraordinary? Why don't we realize the damage we are doing to ourselves when
we opt for unfair means of completing academic projects? Our syllabus is
already ancient, with text books that are updated every five years while the industry
is changing every second. Expecting that this kind of study and a substandard
project in hand is enough to get us a job? A mere thought of this will send
recruiters ROFL'ing. 'Coz guys n gals, a major chunk of the interview will be
spent in an embarrassingly blank stare when you realize your inability to
answer the first question – Can you explain your academic project?
Okay,
not to get preachy here. Let's just assume that upon realizing the importance
of projects, we come up with an extraordinary piece of work. Then what? In
addition to having confidence in yourself, you need to have the ability to
communicate effectively. In an interview, if you sit there stammering, with
words playing hide ‘n’ seek in your head, and you just can't get yourself to
look the interviewer in the eye, all your hard work and projects are toasted!
Wasted!

All
this talk brings us to one sane conclusion:
Before
we transform academic projects into self destruction tools, ourselves, we need
to...
- Upgrade our knowledge about latest industry requirements and train accordingly.
- Understand the importance of academic projects. They are the only proof of our expertise.
- Enhance our employability by improving our communication skills and logical abilities.
