LG Magic Motion Remote Control with Voice Recognition – Just Speak to Change the Channel? COOL!!!
Voice control is the next zing for futuristic gadgets, what with Apple's Siri and Google's voice-based search. With LG's new Magic Motion Remote Control, voice recognition is not just limited to Smartphones anymore. You can now just speak to change the channel on your Smart TV while the remote still lies under the couch! LG is taking the concept of Smart TVs to a whole new level with its Magic Motion Remote Control that not only has voice recognition, but is also equipped with a new scroll wheel, Magic Gestures and a 3D button. So, apart from just recognizing your voice commands for carrying out its functions, the remote also recognizes hand gestures to enable quick browsing. The scroll wheel further adds utility to this remote control that already speaks magic – true to its name!
What Exactly is the "Magic Gestures" Feature?
Picture this – You wish to browse through your
recently viewed videos on your Smart TV. Using a conventional remote, you will
have to browse through a seemingly endless list of apps and options using a
remote that is loaded with buttons. But, using the LG Magic Motion Remote
Control, all you have to do is make the "V" alphabet using a hand
gesture and you will automatically be taken to your recently viewed videos,
without even touching the remote or saying a word! Now that's what we call
"Smart" entertainment.
Voice Recognition and other Features
Thanks to the built-in microphone, the remote
enables voice recognition, making it easier to change channels and browse
through the menu using your voice. As for the scroll wheel, it is a helpful
addition for those who prefer tangible function controllers instead of voice
control. The scroll button enables one to easily scroll through the functions
and channels. The remote is also equipped with a 3D button, which when pressed,
directly converts the 2D display to 3D, without the hassle of searching through
the menu. The device has less than 10 keys, making it hassle free and easy to
use. The device has an ergonomic design and is also equipped with a gyroscope.
Hitting the Market
According to its press
release, LG will be launching the product in the first quarter of 2012, a great
way to begin the New Year. The device may be showcased in CES 2012, the world's
greatest technology showcase event. The remote will accompany LG's CINEMA 3D
Smart TV. "LG has been striving to constantly improve the comfort and
convenience with which our customers use the CINEMA 3D Smart TVs", says
President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company, Havis Kwon in the official
press release. According to him, the added features will make it easier for
users to "approach and use the CINEMA 3D Smart TVs" that have over
1,000 apps!
Earlier versions of LG's Magic remote controls
already had a Point and Click function that made navigation through TV menus a
cakewalk. With the added features, it has become more futuristic and
utilitarian. Everyone's waiting to catch the first demos of the Magic Remote at
CES, so I'm gonna stay tuned!!!
